Punk Rock Abs Press Release

December 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Experimental Musician and Poet Joe DeVita has created a new album entitled “Punk Rock Abs”. “Punk Rock Abs” is due for release on iTunes January 13,2009.

If you already know the name Joe DeVita then you know his fierce stance on artistic growth. We are very happy to say that Joe’s new album “Punk Rock Abs” is no exception to Joe’s mission.

Punk Rock Abs is a collection of funny and abrasive songs that are sure to make even the most desensitized Punk Rocker raise a curious eye. Imagine for a moment a mixture of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Wesley Willis, The Dead Milkmen, and Ween on way too much LSD.

In the past Joe has released lo-fi experimental and computer music. Joe’s past music efforts include “A Study” which was done on Casio keyboard. “Reflect” which was created on the sequencing program Reason established Joe as on of the top ambient and experimental artists amongst underground music fans.

“I’m not sure there are too many people out in the world who know that I’ve performed in Hardcore groups for years before I became recognized as an electronica guy. I wanted to share the experiences I had playing this style of music and where my sense of humor is at with my audience. I had so much fun recording this album and I’m sure people can tap into that spirit when they listen to this music” DeVita says.

Punk Rock Abs finds Joe playing Guitar, Bass, Midi Synthesizer, Drums, and vocals. The music found on the album ranges from country and blues to hardcore punk and ambient music. The lyrical content is satirical, self deprecating, self empowering, and funny. With song titles like Iggy Pop, Crackhead, and Real Cowboys Don’t Line Dance, Joe takes shots at himself and everything around him.

Punk Rock Abs is due for release on iTunes January 13, 2009.

Press Rlease for Living in Flux

December 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Experimental Punk musician Joe DeVita has astounded the literary world with the release of his first book “Living in Flux” available on LuLu.com

Mr. DeVita who stumbled upon LuLu.com fairly recently saw the website as a great venue to get his controversial works out into the world.

Mr. DeVita comments “I generally write what I have experienced in my life. I wish I could say I was a sheltered individual but that is very far from the truth.”
Themes covered in some of Mr. DeVita’s poetry include drug abuse, sex, poverty, racism, religion.

Aside from controversial content, Mr. DeVita delivers imagery and stream of consciousness writing at a straight ahead and frenetic pace. These elements joined with Mr. DeVita’s characteristically dry sense of humor are guaranteed to raise eyebrows from the most liberal reader.

“I’ve always wanted to write something that an alienated person can relate to. Something simple but something that cuts through all of the romantic garbage that most writing presents. I am writing for a generation of people that nobody seems to acknowledge. Freaks, geeks, weirdo’s, those are my people. I have no time for the mainstream”. Mr. DeVita says.

Joe DeVita (joedevita.net) began hitch hiking across the United States and Canada at the age of fifteen. Many of the poems that are written in Living in Flux are derived from his experiences of traveling and living on the road. Readers have a unique opportunity to experience some very human stories with a pull no punches, no apologies attitude. Mr. DeVita puts himself in the first person through all of these experiences and asks his readers for no forgiveness.
